Roadtrip

We were about 35 minutes into our roadtrip when Cooper asked, "Is the beach behind those trees?"
"No son, that's Forney, TX; we won't be at the beach until tomorrow."
This is a hard concept for a 3-year-old to understand, but when we told Cooper he would be able to watch 3 movies before we arrived at the beach, he remained very content. My one worry was how Caroline would survive our journey, but she seemed content too! Though she only slept 45 minutes on the way to Gulf Shores and 45 minutes on the way home - we don't think she's EVER slept longer than that in her car seat. I think having her brother to entertain her helped her endure the long trip:)

We caravaned to Gulf Shores with my brother and sister-in-law so we were able to make a few stops together and even stayed in the same hotel room in Monroe, LA. I thought my brother was kidding when he said he made one hotel reseveration for all 7 of us to stay in a suite. In fact, I laughed hysterically when I realized he as not joking and that the plan was for all of us to share a room. My sister-in-law and I were doubtful this plan would work, but we did it to save money. When we pulled into the hotel parking lot around 10 pm on Friday night, Cooper told us, "I'm so excited!" So, Josh, Cooper, Caroline and I all slept in a king size bed (Caroline screamed when I tried to put her down in the pack-in-play) with Steve and Sharla on the pull-out couch and cousin Hayden in the pack-in-play. After about 15 minutes of silliness the kids went to sleep and slept all night! But, Josh said he's never been so cramped on a king size bed:)

We made it!
One happy beach bum!
